Colorful Kansas City
This piece features some of the city’s most iconic buildings, such as Union Station, the Kauffman Center, the Power and Light Building, The One, Town Pavilion, and the Western Auto building with a lost shuttlecock that has flown from the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. And on the front, the statue of The Scout, depicting a Sioux Indian on horseback surveying the landscape.
I intentionally created this piece with a heart shape around it, because Kansas City is known as the “Heartland” of the country.
The different colors represents the varied cultures and communities that are working to create a more accepting and inclusive city. 💖🌆🌈
