Starbucks México commissioned an image that could capture the essence of the women who make possible the production of the Siren’s Blend coffee. As an Illustrator, I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to work on this project with a brand that I love, especially for such a good cause. A portion of the profit from every purchase of Siren’s Blend coffee goes towards programs that seek to promote equality for women, with Fondo Semillas being the beneficiary in México.

The story behind this illustration centers on the women of the Gitesi coffee farm in Rwanda, who came together after the 1994 genocide to rebuild their country. These women, who had previously been on opposing sides of the conflict, put their differences aside and united to pursue the shared goal of coffee farming.

The illustration features a landscape of Rwanda, with women in the background collecting coffee cherries and women in the foreground drying them in the drying beds. The bag of Siren’s Blend is prominently displayed in the center. I am extremely proud of this project, as it is my first commission doing what I love for a brand that I admire.
